What is the Provider's Play Day?
The Provider's Play Day is a weekend long professional development opportunity. The training is geared toward early childhood professionals, but anyone intersted in learning more is welcome to attend. It was started by Amy Ahola and initially sponsorred by Child Central Station. However many programs and early childhood educators in Marquette, Baraga, and Houghton Counties have pitched in to continue the event.
This training is dedicated to keeping the true spirit of play alive. Guest speakers challenge our beliefs and practices. Time is dedicated for discussion and to reflect upon the information presented.
Previous Play Day Events have included a number of child care programs opening their spaces for tours. This event is intentionally kept small, but has multiple options for participation.
Provider Retreat to replace play day!
Due to continued concerns with rising numbers of Covid-19 cases and travel, we have opted to postpone our PLAY DAY! However, local providers are planning to gather for a weekend retreat! Please message Amy for more information. The retreat will take place at the LaRose Wellness Retreat on October 8-9-10, 2021.
2021 play day has been cancelled/postponed
Stay tuned for updates as they become available
For those of you coming from out of town, you have 2 local airport options: Marquette is MQT, Hancock/Houghton County is CMX. If you plan to travel from out of town, please contact Amy for additional information and help planning your trip.
